Self Portrait

So the 8th grade project that we finished before spring break was the Self-Portrait project. I showed the kids a quick slide show of a bunch of projects mostly from the Incredible Art Department. and then let them pick how to represent or draw a self-portrait. Heres what we came up with!

Some pottery, include a couple of pretty good busts, a platter and some representational ones. (like a kid that loves basketball did his hand spinning a basketball)

We had a lot of pencil drawings with some nice shading.

Some cool playing card style drawings, some digital art including a couple porsonality power points, collage and altered books.
Go see some more here

Comments:
i'm impressed by the kid with the subpop logo in the background. i'm glad kids know about other labels that aren't as big.

Sam... we are near Seattle where SupPop is from so I think that may be part of it. He is doing a report right now on the art of album covers and has included mostly SubPOp covers.

How did you grade this project? They're all great in their own right! I'm having the hardest time with this area of art, as I feel in some ways they shouldn't be graded (at least not in elem. school).

I have a rubric that is based on use of tools, use of time and cretivity of the project.
